Looking into a new year
..and saying goodbye to 2011

- With Christmas behind us and the new year ever looming I have enjoyed the hustle and bustle of this limbo week! Aside from working a few days I have been watching lots of films, eating choccies and recently went for cocktails and meal with my friend Sarah at a thai restaurant in Leeds called 'Chaophraya' [I seriously reccommend this place I have been numerous times and it has always been so yummy! ] We had Christmas at home this year with my grandparents coming over for a traditional meal and I spend boxing day with my friend Charlotte, we went to a chinese buffet which was lovely. Every Christmas eve we have a meal together it is kind of like our tradition! We then went for a  Christmas drink at a pub. Needless to say, my weirdy luck made it that an old flame happened to be there also. Actually two of my ex boyfriends were there which surprised me to say the least. I am happy it was not awkward but then again it made me feel a little strange! Nevertheless I had a jolly evening.

I hope all my lovely readers have had a fabulous Christmas and have been blessed with lots of gorgeous pressies from Santa! I would like to wish you all a happy new year also!

- I was in two minds about the content of this post. I have decided to show you all some of the lovely gifts that I recieved this year and add my 2011 summary . If you have followed my blog since the begining back in March this year, you will know that this year has been full of trials and tribulations, some up's and a lot of downs but I still have my health and
here's to a wonderful 2012 which bodes to be a fantastic year if I get my bum into gear!

- My parents always decorate our house so beautifully and they really get into the spirit at Christmas time with tree's wreaths and twinkly lights everywhere!

February THE HELL MONTH!
My nana had a stroke and her life was never the same again, my nana and I are/were very close and it was heartbreaking seeing how the stroke had effected her! Oh, i got dumped on Valentines day over a text message! Yeah, wonderful!!!! This month was horrendous I was a real mess and I didn't feel myself at all, it was horrible everything was upside down and I wondered if i'd ever feel myself again. GOODGOLLYMISSHOLLIE was born!!!! I kick started this blog and haven't looked back since.
LINK TO THE WORST WEEK OF MY LIFE!

March
Photobucket
I attended a Journalism week at Leeds Trinity and All Saints University. Here is where my blogging story began! I met some amazing friends on this week.
*Hello to Nicki, Jenny, Sophie, Ly and Joe and Ibby.*
I also attended the NME Tour and saw loads of bands including The Vaccines, Everything Everything, Magnetic Man and Crystal castles. I had a lot of self realisation this month. I got my Jan exam results back and after contemplating dropping out of sixth form to do a makeup course I  was shocked to find out I got  A BB and 100% in my Literature exam! I realised that I had to stay at college.

I left college for summer. My aunt from america came over to stay with us which was lovely. I failed my mock driving test and was told that "I wasn't fit for the road" Driving was REALLY getting me down, only my dad believed in me. This month I spent 6 hours a week driving in my Punto with my Grandad trying to make me a more confident driver. I swapped driving instructors and my road confidence soared!! I crashed a party and got the drunkest I have ever been in my entire life. I was so poorly with it! eek!!!

July
I went to Journalism summer school which was amazing, I had such a fantastic time! You have probably read the post all about it, it was bloody brilliant
Link to my summer school experience! i visited Newcastle and realised that is the uni I wanted to go to! Loved everything about it and had a brilliant day with my Stanford Blach. There is a vlog of that day on my blog, it is under 'blog vlog' :). Like my other vlogs, it is just me being crazy as ever!

August
I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST FIRST TIME WITH 3 MINORS!!! Seriously the best feeling in the world. I was a wreck that morning, I thought I was going to die I was hyperventalating that much!!! but bloody hell I did it!!!!!! I also went to Leeds festival woohoo!!! - it rained, a lot. I got my final AS exam results back with A B B C.

September
I came back to college in year 13 with the realisation that I needed to knuckle down I still had no motivation for college THEN I started looking around uni's and got into UNI MODE! My parents went away for 2 weeks and I had my first taste of independant living haha!

October

The glamourous, glamourous, glamorous...
Hollywood Fashion Secrets

- With the Christmas party season right here upon us, undoubetdly we are all excited about looking our glamourous best for this years festivities! I have been on the hunt for my Christmas day, Boxing day and New Years Eve outfits, scouting the shops for a gorgeous pair of heels to match each dress and purchasing a million and one glitter nailpolish's to glam up my look.

Often I find that when we really want to look our best, something lets us down. On my prom night I wore a midnight blue, floor legnth ball gown with a long train.
Here I am, sweet 16 and all ready for my summer ball.

Photobucket

Let me tell you now, that night I had a fair few wardrobe malfunctions, having bought my dress 9 months in advance I lost weight and the bodice slipped lower than I would have liked a few times that night! Eek!

I always have trouble with bandeau tops slipping down as I don't have the boobies to hold them up and I often get annoyed that due to this issue strapless bra's are a complete no no!

If only there were ways to sort out these wardrobe dilemmas…..

All hail

- Hollywood Fashion Secrets are a company fronted by the Fashion Fairy Godmothers that helps us girlies solve our wardrobe problems with good old practical products combatting problems such as white deodrant stains on our black tops, gaps in our blouses and the 'nipple embarrassment' whilst wearing our close fit dresses.

Here I am at my birthday party this year, Eek! Cosmopolitan cocktail splashed all over the front!

Photobucket

Here is what came in the post….
The products are so beautifully packaged in a super cute, sparkly pink design! I love the graphics on them and insde and out the packaging helps you with how to use to different products! I like helpfulness!

- I used these tapes for almost everything the other day to give them a good rigerous test! They are very durable and secured my 'reavling neckline'. I am looking forward to using these with my beige wrap skirt that I will be wearing on New years day.

Bra Converting Clip

- This product is a god send, I figuried it would be a little strange plonking a picture of my boobies on my blog so you will have to take my word for it that I was instantly boosted and best of all the unsightly straps poking out from my vest top were eliminated!

Boot Straps
Keep your pants securely tucked into your boots

- This was my favourite little saviour that I received! I always find it annoying when your jeans lag over the top of your boots. I do like a smooth, refined look which my using these straps you get!

Accessory Dots
Perfect size for holding accessories in place!
'When you don't need a lot, use a dot

- There is nothing more annoying than when your sleeve rolls down (Usually mine ends up in my dinner) When your watch swivvels around and more annoyingly, when you just want your scarf to sit right! Once again, the tape is durable and the stick lasts for a long time, even on my thick scarf!

- I love the concept of this company and will definitly be heading over to their gorgeous, sparkly pint website LINK! to purchase their 'Fashion Emergancy Kit' and 'Hip Hugger'. Go have a peek yourself and see what you think of the products!

If you have any wardrobe concerns or the worry of an omnious fashion malfunction then I recommend this company who are industry recognised by US magazine and Cosmopolitan, although they are an American company they ship to the UK yay!

I hope you find something that helps you!

Shopping Haul

I like the dreams of the future
more than the history of the past…

Just a little sentimental message to begin……

Photobucket

- I always knew from the very beginning that I was never going to be a 'half arsed' blogger so to speak.
I just really want to to take this time to write it down officially.
I am 100% commited and extremley serious about this blog, I have been doing a few sums in my head and I have realised that I spend much more time, enjoyment and dedication towards goodgollymisshollie than I do to my college work. Which is worrying, very worrying. But it also speaks volumes. It tells me that I want this blog to be a success more than anything in the world. I started this blog to kickstart me into publishing online and to start my journalism journey. I always see extremley lucky bloggers with my dream job even those who started out with no intension of a career in online media. It is possible and I don't want this to take over my life and result in nothing. I = despratley want this to work and I am here to say that I am pushing 'goodgollymisshollie' forward, full steam ahead.  I am so commited to you guys who have been commited to me! Since March when my blog was just a seed, it is you guys who make me want to do this and you guys who are the one's who have made this blog what it is today, all my readers, all my subscribers all the mentions and recommendations from other bloggers, nine months on here we are - in a place I NEVER thought I would be.
Thankyou, so so much
x

[Now for what you really came here to read ha ha!]
The Haul!

-  On Monday I took to Leeds with my lovely friend Sara. Yes, Swalkermakeup and I hit leeds intending on Christmas shopping! Well, I have to say we meant well but we totally failed on that part! We ended up buying everything for ourselves. *Oopsies* . We had an excellent day catching up, shopping and eating sushi! Woo gotta love Yo Sushi in Harvey Nicks!
I only picked up a few items however, I am really pleased with my purchases, you may be able to see a colour theme running through!

Photobucket
First up, A lovely H and M skirt. This beautful, silky skirt was in the sale for £15!
I don't know why but I am never one to buy skirts, I only own two of the same black bodycon skirts from Primark. I wanted to be adventurous and after looking at it on the hanger for a good few minutes. It was in my hand! I have to say I am rather shocked that I fit comfortably into a size 8 garment! The skirt really singes me in at the waist and is lovely and flowy. It has too pieces of material to tye at the front into a bow and has two large, deep pockets at either side! Later on that same day I found them very useful for stashing my phone, ID and money in!
In honesty, it was the colours in the skirt that appealed to me. You know me, always one to wear 'out there' clothing. It will be perfect for summer too! I did struggle to find a a top to go with it though, What kind of top would you recommend with it? I opted for a lace black t shirt which looked okay.

Photobucket
As a self confessed total, Primark geek (and Sara too ha ha!) We popped into Primark I picked up some beautiful fluttery lashes for a mere quid! I don't have a picture of them though as I lost one of the pair on a night out. I really recommend them for a fluttery, 'bambi' eye! I was also umming and arring about what shoes to wear with the skirt, I knew I was wearing black lace tights but I really wasn't looking forward to the tootsie cramps as the night progressed! I spotted these gorgeous dolly shoes!  I think they are very bohemian and they are also glittery EVEN better! They were £8 and as Sara said, they will look gorgeous in the summer with a tan! I didn't end up wearing on them on the night out. At five foot 3, I reckoned I needed a bit of height! So I opted for my trusty black wedges! Sara bought the glittery, rose gold pair of the same kind, I have my beady eye on them also!

That was all I bought from Leeds but today, after work I had an urge to go and get a choppy fringe cut in. If you follow me on Twitter  [@gollymshollie] you will know that I am obsessed with Jessica Jane Clement (If you are not familar who she is, she is a model, TV presenter and was recently on I'm a celebrity get me out of here) She has opted for a full fringe - it looks rather sexy! So I copied! I am a fan of full fringes and I usually have one cut in twice a year. You will be able to see it in my upcomming videos on my YouTube channel!

Photobucket
I also bought these two bath bombs from Lush! I bought 'Vanilla fountain' which actually contains real Vanilla, 'Space girl' and 'Lil christmas pud'. I love having Lush bath bombs in my room, it makes it smell all lovely and well….Lush! I am looking forward to lighting my candles and having a relaxing bubble bath pre and post Christmas!

Photobucket
I went into H and M, my local store and bought something that I had seen Sara try on in Leeds that I ABSOLUTLEY loved, right up my street! A Kimono style blouse! Wow, it is love I absolutley love it! It was £14.99 and I know that I will never take this off! It is silky and the pattern is oriental inspired! I have seen Primark doing similar ones for MORE MONEY! =O! A word of advice though, I am a size 10 and I had to get the XS-S as the medium drownd me!

Photobucket
Finally, I called at the market to pick up a new iphone case! My leopard print one snapped on one side. I decided to go for a glitzy and glam upgrade! What do you think?

So, there we have it! What a mammoth post! Wowzah! Hope you are all enjoying the festive period!

YouTube Vlog!
A day in the life...

- I decided after many requests to film 'A day in the life' video that I would film one, edit it so it looks a tiny bit more interesting and upload for you all. Don't get me wrong I don't get up to the most interesting of things i.e swanning off to London for makeup shoots or making mulled wine with my boyfriend (of whom doesn't exist) what is it with the mulled wine vlogs? Most days I just go to college. Haha! Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and it gives you a little bit of a better insight about me. :-)

December 'Special Edition' Glossybox
Wishing us a GLOSSY Christmas!

- Earlier in the week I had my acrylic nails painted in OPI 'Big Apple Red'.

Photobucket
Since then I have been lusting over EVERYTHING bright red, shiny red and 'in-your-face' red!
As you all know I have been on a quest to have my hair bright red so today in order to match and follow suit my nails, toenails and lips all had a touch of Christmassy red! Woo!

This afternoon after a dismal drive home from college, I walked in to find a Glossybox sitting pretty on the kitchen worktop. I opened it to find exactly what my heart desired A BRIGHT RED GLOSSYBOX! I suddenly felt all christmassy and excited. I couldn't wait to open the box's glossy lid and see what was held inside.

I have to say that the contents are absolutely fantastic and right up my street. I have always been sceptical of the contents and it just shows that some months you love everything (i.e this month ha ha!) and some months you don't take a fancy to anything.

So what were the products tickling my pickle so much this month

Photobucket

- Rituals Foaming Shower Gel Full sized product!!! £6.50 /200ml
"This unique fomaing shower gel gently cleanses your skin and leaves it silky soft and smooth"

Photobucket

At first I mistook this for shaving gel whoops! I recieved the 'Yogi Flow' Indian Rose & Sweet Almond flavour in a hot pink, sexy bottle! The exotic smell of this product is gorgeous and I can't wait to get in the shower tonight and use it. I love lovely smelling products to use in the bath or shower and I am looking forward to lathering this beauty up under a hot shower!

- Deborah Lippmann Nail Varnish in 'Razzle Dazzle' & "The Stripper to go, for go-go girls" nail varnish mitts The full size nail varnish is £16 & the remover mits are 6 for £14
Party glitter nail colour with a sachet of the most amazing polish remover finger nail mitt."

Photobucket
Photobucket

How fabulous is this RED GLITTER!!!! need I say more colour? Amaze-balls! My sneaky mum had her eye on this for herself on New years eve! I can't wait to wear this. I love red and I love Christmassy glitter PERFECT! I am also interested to see how the mitts work as I never had much success with remover pads, I end up with a coloured smudged mess all over my fingers. Using these on the bright red I have on my nails currently will be interesting to see if it really is 'amazing'.

- Bionova Eye Wrinkle Treatment Full size product is £43 for 14.18g
- "Utilizes the technology based on Life Science Nanotechnology by treating the skin with the same ingredients in the same quantities and ratio naturally produced by a human body."

Photobucket

I know that I am not really at an age to test this effectivley but I love the concept! I shall be giving this to my mum to have a go with and see what she thinks.

-Cargo Cosmetics Classic Lip Gloss Full size product is £10
- Cargo's new lip hloss formulation! Perfect shades, great wear and high-shine without being sticky."

Photobucket

Sounds bloody perfect to me! The colour I have is 'Last Vegas' a gorgeous rose gold colour. I would pick this shade myself and I am looking forward to wearing it over my MAC 'Angel' Lipstick.

- Blink + Go Eyeshadow & Blush Palette Full Size product worth £14.95
Blink + Go eye makeup is the ultimate effect for eyes. Take your eye-style to a dizzy height with maximum colour and a perfect silk texture and finish."
Photobucket

I really need to get into wearing blushes. I am more of a bronzer girl so I am inteested to try these out. The eyeshadows are colours I would wear for statements eyes, they look highly pigmented and I will be wearing an eye combination with one of these shades for certain.
I love this months offering from Glossybox and has made me review the concept in a more positive light. That's what happens when they hit the nail on the head! I hope that next's months offerings tickle my fancy also as it is great when you find a high end product worth buying again!

Winter Warmers
Clothing haul

- It is a glorious feeling knowing your bank account has a few shopping stash pennies inside it, without the guilty feeling when you drain out your last fiver on some Topshop earrings. Post birthday I am happy to say that I don't feel guilty literally bouncing into the shops.

This week, that is exactly what I have done.

I often find that in the winter I dress extremely weather inappropriate and in the summer I dress for colder temperatures. weirdo . After freezing my poor self in hail and gale force winds on Saturday night I have deservantly contracted the bad cold. I say bad because I want to make it sound worse than a few sniffles but can't go quite as far as saying i'm bed ridden with flu. This aside I do feel pretty damn ropey. This unfortunate factor is not helped when I am walking around wearing a floaty blouse and a leather jacket. Yes, as a legal adult my mother still had her displeased and unimpressed opinion about this.

TOO THE SHOPS WE GO…

Photobucket
I paid a visit to New Look and bought this lovely knitted jumper in a beige / camel shade. I'm not really one for the 'mums cardigan' look but this winter warmer was just what I was looking for. It is from the 'tall' range (and we all know that certainly is NOT me, currently standing at five foot 3) but I like how it covers me all up and feels durable and sturdy. It also came in a maroon red but that shade clashed a little with my hair. It was £17. (pre student discount which at New Look is 10%)

Photobucket
Next on the list was this 'snood'. Does anybody else snigger inside and in their head say snooooood No? okay maybe that is just me!
I bought this one in a shade that I can only describe as a 'watered mustard'. It matches nicely with my new cardigan and I love the idea of a scarf that doesn't have the annoying 'taily' bits and the ability to wrap it around your neck twice without being strangled. I love it, it is warm and comfy and makes me
feel all 'red nosed' and Christmassy. The Snoooood cost £7 (pre student discount)

Photobucket

I then ambled over to TK Maxx, well you can't really avoid that beautiful place can you?
After eyeing it up for weeks I finally bought this furry squirrel-esc gillet with beautiful rhinestone embellishment on the collar.

Photobucket

I love it for layering over jumpers and it is also suitable for a night out as it 'dressy' enough. I already have a similar furry gillet and it was that, that inspired me to purchase this one. It retailed at £36.

Photobucket

My next puchase was from the 'Mod Box' at TK Maxx I love their quirky blouses and t shirts in the range and although I was eyeing up a cardigan I picked up this beautiful and unique blouse and fell in love for a number of reasons.

Photobucket

1) It is floaty, light and has fringing!

2) The shape of the blouse when it is on is sort of 'Poncho - esc) I LOVE that.

3) IT IS PEACOCK FEATHER GALORE! Woohoo! I love peacock feather's and in the foreseeable future I hope to be brave and get inked up with a peacock feather just above my ankle.

The blouse was a barginous £12!

Photobucket

Lastly, I pottered down to a shop housing a very smiley asian man and an array of fluorescent stickers on the window shouting " ALL HANDBAGS £10" well I was like ooh hello! I am a handbag girl, shoes = mehh handbags = yeah! I have so many handbags, one more won't hurt right? For a tenner I bought this crocodile, pleather 'doctors style' bag.

Photobucket

Unfortunatley it holds barely anything and the shoulder strap broke but hey ho! It looks good! I feel like a proper little lady walking around with it hung in the crook of my arm! NEGATIVES ASDE! LEOPARD PRINT LINING FTW!

As I finish college early on Friday's I have designated this day to filming, editing, uploading day on YouTube. I know that I already tweeted this but would you prefer an 'Updated what's in my bag?" Or the '13 personal questions tag' ( or whatever it is called these days )

I have a gruelling psychology mock exam tomorrow. :( Not to be a moaning merle but it really hits me how close my A2 exams are and how little I feel I know. eek!

Are there any readers out there who are in my position?

ooh ps, a few people on Twitter asked to see how we decorate our house at Christmas as I told you we have themed tree's, do you still want a post on that? Let me know below.
