THE HAIRCARE CHRONICLE: ERADICATING BRASSY TONES

Bristows 'Silver'

Shampoo and Conditioner

- Around 2 weeks ago, I started the very long process of lightening my hair up in a
bid to eradicate the artificial red and gain some tonal warmth to my hair

I have begun by applying warm toned highlights throughout my hair.
**You can find my first post about this here**
to really lift the colour up from the seriously dark shade that it had become.

Ofcourse, I could have gone about this by paying a visit to a salon,
have the colour lifted and paid mega bucks for the privilege, but as
a student, that really was not an option, so I kind have had to muddle along as I go.

With no definate end goal in site I am going about this one step at a time.

As expected after my first lot of 'blonde' highlights were applied, they
took very sporadically and mis match in colour.
My roots were platinum blonde, with my hair getting gradually more coppery towards the ends.

I love the coppery tone but I feel a little more lightening would suffice.
I applied an all over tint colour to make my highlights all one colour.
I used
Schwarzkopf 'Poly Colour' Tint
in 38 Warm Brown

Once my highlights were all the same shade, I begun the toning process.
For this, I have been using two products that retail at £1 each from Home Bargains and Bodycare.

Bristows
Silver shampoo and conditioner

The lilac toned products are very mild which means they can be used with every hair wash, without
causing any dodgey purple highlights.
Toning products are used to lift the brassy tones out of blonde treated hair.
They are intended for people with blonde, grey and white hair but for me, I use them to
lighten up certain parts.

I have been using these products for 2 weeks now and my hair has never felt softer.
Not even my normal colour treated hair shampoo and conditioner can make my hair feel as soft and look as shiny as these two beauties do.
I do believe that it has something to do with the sunflower oil.

So has it worked?
I leave the conditoner on for around an hour and I can say that my highlights are much less orange in tone and are all blended to the same shade!

What do you think of lilac toners?
Love, Holl

  3. I never seen these in Body care before. I need to take a look. You should look at Pro:voke touch of silver shampoo in body care also, it is a similar shampoo to this and is great at taking out my brassyness on a budget.
