THE LIFESTYLE CHRONICLE: INTERIOR LOVE.

Room For Improvement

Challenge

- A few weeks ago I was contacted by the comparason site Money Supermarket to take part in their 'Room For Improvement' blogger challenge.
I was delighted to be able to take part as anything to do with interiors, decoration and general homeyness gets a creative fire burning in my belly!
I was given £50 by Money Supermaket to improve a room of my choice.

I am lucky enough to be allowed to decorate my bedroom at home in any way that I wish.
My parents are both lovers of minimalist decor you know the kind, the cream walls, the no clutter, the no clash sort of thing.
Whereas myself, I am more of an anything goes girl.
I would say that my taste is swayed towards the ethnic, travel, vintage, mish mash tribe.

My room is a collection of things that make me happy whether they match or not!

I started off by making a list of areas that needed improving.
First on my list was my bed, my cushions were old, tatty and looked a little dreary upon my bedspread.
I was ideally looking for cushions a little ethnic and colourful to spice up the area that your eyes immediately meet when you enter my bedroom.

Before

After

I am absolutely in love with these two cushions that I found in TK Maxx in Leeds, they are both handcrafted in India and are inspired by the rich traditions, diverse landscapes and the majesty of places like the Taj Mahal.
The local artisans of India handcraft pieces for your home that celebrate vibrant colours, an exotic culture and a history that spans centuries.

I was originally only going to pick up one but I absolutely fell in love with both of the cushions.
The circular cushion with pom pom edging realling pulling in the colours of my room and I love the vibrancy of the red and turquoise on the square cushion.
Together they look lovely and really complement one another, they are seriously plump and made to a high quality.
A little luxuary at £16 each!

My bedroom carpet has been down for almost 16 years, in that time I have gone through phases of extreme hair straightening, hair dying, fake tan, coloured make-up, you name it, whatever stains is on my carpet.
It is also a rather hidious and grotesque carpet in muted green, heaven knows why my parents chose it but I guess it was the 1990's!
With this in mind I do my best to cover the horrid carpet up!
I have a fluffy, cream rug that is getting tatty and as it was cheap the fabric has started to go matted, therefore I was on the hunt for a more luxurious rug.

Before

I stumbled across this rug in TK Maxx as I loved the dusky pink shade.
The fabric is interesting and feels funky under bare feet.
I picked it up for around £20.

After

I also picked up a gorgeously scented Vanilla candle from Homebase for £3.
I am so lucky to have been given the opportunity by Money Supermarket to
improve my room and I am so pleased with the items I have purchased!

Are you a lover of the indoors?
How would you have spent £50?
