THE NAIL CHRONICLE: NAIL BITING

stop biting!

- For the most part of my life, my 'nails' have been tiny, sore stubs on the end of my fingers.

I changed my ways when I was around 15 when nail polish started to take my fancy.
I was embarrased of having stubby, disgusting nails and I knew things had to change.

Until two weeks ago my nails remained weak from years of biting but long and lovely.
I was proud of showing my hands off knowing that my nails looked neat and presentable.

Recent stressful situations have really taken their toll on my poor, sore finger tips
and I am determined to revitalise the life in my nails.

I have a little action plan in order to achieve this..
Perhaps if you're a biter also we can do it together!

I start by leaving my polish off for a weekend and I only apply
my Sally Hansen Maximum Growth daily nail treatment.
This stuff is a miracle worker as my nails become instantly stronger and within five days
little white nail tips appear.

Once my nails have toughened up a little bit
I can start on the bi daily paint jobs.

Keeping my nails painted really helps me to stop biting them as I don't want nail paint in my mouth and also I hate chipped nails!

I start my filing any jagged edges and making sure my cuticles are pushed back.

I then apply a coat of
Pattons Nail Hardener
which really does prevent your nails from flaking, becoming brittle and breaking as easily.

Finally I go in with a pop of colour.
Today's pick is a
Barry M - Limited Edition polish that doesn't have a name, just a zebra print lid and a gorgeous, flirty pink shade adorning the glass jar.

I allow one coat to dry naturally before heading in with a second coat
and a spray of my speedy nail polish drying spray

Finally, I take my Venique topcoat for a glossy finish!

Hopefully by this time next month my nails are looking a little more chic.

Do you have any tips on preventing nail biting?

  2. That is such a nice shade :) I'm quite good, I don't bite my nails, but they are so weak :( I may use that strengthening product myself!
