- I really need to stop buying jewellery simply because I have enough to fill Pandora's box three times over.
I am however a sucker for the jewellery bargain bin.

THE BEAUTY CHRONICLE: CLARINS BEAUTY FLASH BALM

the beauty staple.

A few weeks ago the lovely Clare from Clarins contacted me and invited me along to an event that the brand was hosting in John Lewis.

I had a lovely evening meeting the Clarins girls and learning all about their products, which I must admit that I have never tried.

THE BEAUTY CHRONICLE: JOHNSON'S FACE CREAM

the moisturiser.

-Whenever I hit the bottom of the pot of a moisturiser I worry.
Whenever I use another moisturiser, whether it be the same one as before or a new one, spots in their multiples appear on my face.

THE LIFESTYLE CHRONICLE: POSSIBLY THE BEST BAG/CASE EVER?

the case bag.

- A few weeks ago I had a travelling conundrum, I needed something to hold a whole weekends worth of clothes but it couldn't be a suitcase because I was going to be on and off of buses and tubes.

After a short (read:legnthy) browse in Primark I headed over to the bag section to see what they had.

After brushing by many holdalls and weekend bags nothing was looking suitable.

Until….

I found this £12 leopard pring carry bag / wheely case at the back of the shelve.
It comes in a plain black colour variation and in two different sizes, I bought the smaller of the two.

It is shower resistant and has multiple pockets dotted all around it.

On the face of it, this little leopard number looks like a mere holdall but after undoing a secret zip a handle pops out and vola! a suitcase appears!

It is big enough to fit in a whole weekends worth of clothing and your laptop.

I took it on a recent trip to Wolverhampton and it did the job nicely.
I really recommend it if you are looking for something that can easily transport all of your worldy goods in as it also fits in the overhead storage on the train.

THE MAKE UP CHRONICLE: THE BEAUTY DRAWER

the best drawer ever?

Some of you may already know that at home, I have a chest of drawers that houses all of my make-up and beauty products.
It has to be said that the drawer has been made redundant in recent times due to my life being split around various difference places in the country.

My make-up essentials are often flung into a makeup bag ready for the off somwhere.
In terms of a stable home, my beauty bits and bobs live in a double drawer in my uni room.

I thought it might be an idea to let you all have a peek into said drawer.
Of course I couldn't transport all of my make-up collection here, so it is a fairly limited range of products but never the less they are my go to favourites.

There are links for every product that I have previously reviewed if you want to check those out.

I have over 100 nail polishes, so to choose just a few to bring with me was tough.
I narrowed it down to my favourite shades of all time including:
Collection - 'Scorched'
Nails Inc - 'St James'
Sinful Colors - '23'
2True - '41'
I also have my barginous nail drying spray REVIEW HERE and some nail polish remover.

With the help of some old packaging lids, I formed my lips and eyes section.
Here I have my lip pencils, glosses and lipsticks.
2True Lipgloss '10'

Aside from my Naked Palette I have some individual eyeshadows that I like to wear on a daily basis.

I also have my amazing Poundworld lashes (review coming soon on my blog so look out for that.)
Possibly the best thing that the MUA Pro Line make, the fixing mist.

The little green bowls house my everyday make-up so that the products are easy to grab ready for use or ready to throw into my travel make-up bag.
Collection - 'Lasting Perfection Foundation'

So there you have it, my make up goodies drawer..
What do you think?

THE JEWELLERY CHRONICLE: VINTAGE STYLER JEWELLERY

the 'celeste' bracelet

A few weeks ago I was invited to a super sparkly event at Vinea on Liverpool's Albert Dock.
You may have seen these pictures on my Instagram (@goodgollymisshollie)

I was invited along by the lovely Amy Clutterbuck who is the owner of VintageStyler.com

Born in 2011, Vintage Styler is an online accessories boutique that sells something sparkly and beautiful fit for everybody's tastes, stocking everything from clutch bags to bridal accessories, to original vintage pieces to fashion forward statement jewellery.

"We love the touch of raw silk, the subtle sparkle of a well placed gem, and the gentle clink of champagne flutes."

As an absolute jewellery lover and devotee to anything with abit of sparkle I was honoured to be invited along to the event by Amy herself.

I  must apologise for the lack of pictures taken at the event as I had only my old, beaten up Iphone with me and I had sprinted along the docks in gail force winds and lashing rain.
I turned up amongst the glamour in a faded Rolling Stones T-Shirt, wild hair and a pair of Dr Martens.
Amy was very welcoming in and helped me settle in by letting me choose a piece of jewellery to wear.
We thought that these earrings would go best to glam up my rock chic look.

Vintage Styler recently launched a brand new evening collection that is influenced by the vintage and retro era's.
You can find the collection on the Vintage Styler website by clicking HERE.

Amy very kindly sent me my favourite piece from the collection for my birthday.
Allow me you to introduce you to 'Celeste'

Celeste is a gold, gem and pearl charm style bracelet which has been designed with inspiration from vintage brooches and the glamour of a by-gone era.

I love the autumnal colour palette on this bracelet the beautiful amber and purple jewels embeded between ivory pearls.

Go and tell Amy I said hello on Twitter (@StyleMeVs)

THE BEAUTY CHRONICLE: BUDGET LIPGLOSS

2true colour drench lipgloss

I haven't bought lipgloss in years I hate the sticky nature of them, the smudging, the colour that fades within a nanosecond and the gloomy texture.

Yesterday, I bought a lipgloss.

I have been quite impressed with 2true since purchasing one of their nail polishes last month.

The Colour Drench Lipgloss retails at £2.99.
I have the shade: 10 which is a gorgeous deep, wine red.

The colour is applied with a doefoot applicator and applies smoothly.
Yes, it is a little sticky when applied to the lips but it dries pretty quickly.

The colour payoff is good and you are left with very little streaking.

As far as lipglosses go, I still prefer lipstick but if you want a little shine to your lips with great colour payoff give the 2true colour drench range a go.

THE FASHION CHRONICLE: THE £10 OUTFIT #2

Primark bargains

Is it just me, or are Primark prices creeping up rather rapidly?
A chunky knit cardigan can cost you up to £25 these days and a pair of leggings nearly £15.

As a student I rely on Primark heavily to keep me kitted out in nice clothes without paying a ridiculous price.

I often find myself rooting on the bargain rails where you can find different garments starting at £3 and ranging anywhere up to £10.

You may remember THIS POST whereby I found a new outfit for £10.

I did a similar thing last week and found another outfit for a mere tenner.

1
Patterned Blouse - £5

I love this sheer, patterned blouse.
I wear it with a black vest top underneath as it is fairly sheer even though it is heavily patterned.
I like the cross wrap detailing on the chest area and the three quarter sleeves.
I like to wear it tucked into a black bodycon skirt, or with shorts.

2
Satin Shorts -£5

At first I thought that these shorts were holiday/beach shorts but upon closer inspection I realised that they are indeed satin and slinky.
They have little zip pockets and can be worn high waisted or on your hips.
I like to wear them high waisted with the above top.

Please excuse the make-up! It was indeed halloween

Not bad for ten pounds ey?

Do you shop from the Primark bargain rail?

THE LIFESTYLE CHRONICLE: OCD AND ME

my ocd story

- A programme that I watched a few weeks ago on itv spurred me on to write this post, although I have wanted to write it for some time.

OCD is something that many of us have heard of
the phrase: Oh you're so OCD gets thrown around a fair bit.

Something that you may not know about me is that I suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder and have done for around 13 years now and whilst I don't have it to the point where it fully takes over my life it does make situations quite difficult for me from time to time.

OCD is an anxiety disorder that is influenced by thoughts that cause uneasiness, fear and apprehension and in turn the sufferer feels that they have to eradicate these feelings by completing repetative behaviour.

I have suffered many waves of OCD but predominantly I carry out certain behaviours because if I don't, something bad will happen.

When I was seven years old I went through a phase of having to making a clicking noise with my tongue three times or something bad would happen.

This carried on for a while and then my 'thing' turned to multiplying everything by five, touching everything I saw and missing one step on the stairs.

After a while, I never had anything strange happen again for years.
Of course, I had my little quirks but nothing that got annoying.

It was only until recently that my OCD has started to become quite intrusive again.
I think it has been sparked by the anxiety surrounding the death of grandparents.

I have started thinking that if I don't do certain things, something bad will happen to more of my family members.

Ofcourse, I know that it is all in my head but I do worry sometimes that my OCD is getting a little out of control.

Plug sockets are becomming a bit of an issue, I am constantly checking that plug sockets are turned off incase the plug starts a fire.
I always make sure I say I love you to my nearest and dearest to the point where it is becomming obsessive, I can't not say it or yes, you guessed it, something bad will happen.

Anxiety is such a deliberating issue and it really can eat away at you.
I just try to tell myself that if something bad is going to happen then it's out of my control anyway and by doing crazy rituals the outcome won't change.

Do you know anybody who suffers from OCD?

THE BEAUTY CHRONICLE: T ZONE CLEANSING WIPES

first step, wipes

I know that you are scrolling this post with disgust upon your face andI know that these days we are all told to stay well clear from make-up wipes.

But…
Personally I still love them and I use them to take the first layer of my make-up off.
They are also super handy for emergencies when you need something to take the day's make-up off and have no cleanser to hand.

I recently popped into Bodycare and found myself in the facial wipe aisle.
For a mere 99p I dropped on with the:

T Zone
Shine control cleansing wipes

The wipes are anti bacterial and designed for daily cleansing, they also help remove excess oil and prevent breakouts.

The material of the wipe is really sturdy and doesn't disintergrate when you use it on your face, the wipes are also super moist so you at least feel like the product on your face is being removed.

My skin has stayed really clear since using these T Zone wipes and I recommend them if you are looking for effective makeup remover wipes for oily skin in particular.

Have you ever tried the T Zone brand?
Do you still use facial wipes?

THE HAIR CARE CHRONICLE: 99p HEAT DEFENCE SPRAY

argan oil heat defence

- When my everyday hair care products start running low, I don't head down to Boots or Superdrug like I would for make-up supplies.
I skip over to my all time favourite budget beauty store, Bodycare.
Now, you haven't heard me mention that one in a while have you?

Heat defence spray is a product that without fail I always buy.
We already know that my hair is fried as it is without an extra frying when I need to use my hairdryer.

For a mere 99p I bought a heat defence spray that I haven't seen in Bodycare before.

Argan Oil
Heat Defence - Leave In Spray

-With Morrocan argan oil extract this unique styling formula defends against damage to the hair caused by heat styling.

Without harping on about the benefits of oils in products for the hair I am so impressed with this product that I headed back to the store to stock up on three more bottles…
Just incase they are ever discontinued.

The spray leaves my hair feeling non sticky and smelling lovely, it also helps me to fight the frizz whilst blow drying my locks.

I really recommend you give this spray a go if you see it in stores.
The brand also make shampoo and conditioner therefore I am itching to try those also.

Have you ever come across this budget brand before?

THE FASHION CHRONICLE: POP BOUTIQUE HAULIN'

the sparkling jacket...

- Pop Boutique is one my favourite shops ever, I love the musty smell that hits you when you first walk in, I love the dust, miss matched clothing and battered wooden floors.
One bonus' of living in Liverpool is that the city is lucky enough to have two Pop Boutiques.
The only other cities that have a store are Manchester and London.

For those who don't know what Pop Boutique is, it is a store that sells recycled and vintage fashion from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.

Instead of a carrier bag, you get a cute little tote when you purchase something.

After a recent scout instore I ended up purchasing a little sparkly number.

I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

I paid £30 for this beauty which I reckon if it was sold in Topshop it would retail at well over £80 for a jacket that is 100% pure silk and hand embellished.

I love the shoulder pads and the swing on the jacket, it looks great with a plain shift dress and chunky tights.

This jacket really is a showstopper and I can't wait to see what else I can get my mittens on.

Have you ever shopped in Pop Boutique?

THE HAIR CARE CHRONICLE: DIRECTIONS PAINT POTS

'Tangerine'

If you have been reading Good Golly Miss Hollie for the past few months you will have been riding along with me on my quest for auburn hair.
In the process of achieving an orange hue of hair, I have damaged the ends of my hair quite badly.

Red hair is really difficult to maintain and becomes faded very quickly.
Instead of hiting the bottle of chemically harsh dye every 3-4 weeks in order to keep my hair vibrant I am now pledging to only actually dye my hair every three months and use a new little trick for super bright colour in the time inbetween.

La Riche
Directions Semi Permanent Conditioning Hair Colour
Shade: Tangerine

This little pots are amazing, I have tried other shades before but never the more orangey of the paint pot family.

The pots are essentially a dye that is non permanent.
The gel like formula distrubutes a burst of colour throughout your hair in a way that stains it and leaves lots of colour.

Ideally, the lighter your hair colour, the more vibrant they will show so if like me you have a super dark re growth, the paint pot won't lighten your roots up, just add a pop of colour.

Before

Unlike most home hair dyes the paint pots leave your hair feeling nourished and soft rather than dry and brittle.
I shampooed my hair then towel dried it before applying the paint pot, I left it on for an hour before rinsing and conditioning.

The Results

As you can see the paint pot has corrected the mis match of bright orange and red near my roots, aswell as taking the darkness off my natural hair colour.

I bought my pot from Paul's Hairworld in Liverpool for around five pounds, I know that you can buy them online from Colour Riche direct and also stores like Xtra's sell them!

I am so happy to colour my hair in a healthier way, hopefully my horrible, dry ends may mend.

Have you ever tried a paint pot?
