THE FASHION: LIVERPOOL FASHION WEEK OPENING NIGHT

]

Last night the annual Liverpool Fashion Week opened at Anfield stadium showcasing the best of couture glamour and high fashion.

The five night show which was this year sponsored by Childsplay Clothing is the largest regional fashion show in the country outside of London, and as the show prepared to unveil its fifth year, backstage was a frenzy of stylists and models preparing for their catwalk moment amongst clouds of hairspray, lipstick bullets and rails of haute couture dresses.

A mix of local, regional and international designers took part in the couture glamour showcase, including Liverpool based label Christine Collections, led by ex broadway costume designer Christine Edson, Scottish born avante-Garde designer Brian Chan who appeared on Britain’s got talent earlier this year and American label Ngolela.

Amanda Moss, Liverpool Fashion Week founder and editor of Lifestyle magazine, told me how opening night is always the most nerve wracking, she said: “I love to get opening night out of the way and then I can have a big breather, I think it’s gone really well, hopefully the public have enjoyed it too so I shall wait and see the reviews before I pass judgement.”

Amongst the front row fashionista’s were Hollyoaks stars Anna Passey who plays super villan Sienna Blake and Persephone Swales-Dawson who plays Anna’s on screen daughter Nico Blake. I managed to snap a few secret 'selfies' with Anna in the background and i'm pretty sure she clocked on to what I was doing. You can find that picture on my Instagram: @goodgollymisshollie

The beautiful, Sian Gissings, former Miss England 2008 finalist and owner of Gissings Boutique told me what inspired her to produce a couture glamour collection, she said: “For me personally every woman wants to feel empowered and I think we all have that moment where we want to put on a fantastic dress and shine and sparkle, making women feel happy and giving them that cinderella moment.”  She went on to say why she wanted to showcase at Liverpool fashion week, saying: “London fashion week is fantastic but i’m all about local businesses, my aim is to do as many fashion shows around the UK as possible.”

With opening night over and another four days of Liverpool Fashion Week to showcase, organiser Amanda Moss is already thinking of the 2015 show, she told me backstage: “I see relief when the show comes together because its 12 months of planning, i’m planning next years show now, i’m already looking at venues, designers are coming up to me so I never stop, it’s not like that shows finished, i’ll start again in six months it’s literally on going and that’s the only way I can make it bigger and better.”

I will be back at LFW throughout the course of this week so more posts will be popping up if you're interested. I keep my Instagram and Twitter updated live at every show so be sure to follow them if you want to see what's going on at LFW as it happens.
