Japanese Cuisine At Etsu, Liverpool

I am lucky enough to have an interesting friend who happened to live in Japan for a while.
Her name is Lauren and she writes a travel blog.
You will most likely find her HERE.
As part of my 20th birthday celebration’s, I wanted to try a Japanese restaurant in Liverpool that Lauren had recommended to me.
Etsu which is situated just off The Strand boasts sparkling reviews on Trip Advisor and really is a truly authentic taste of Japan.
To begin, Lauren recommended Calpis, a Japanese soft drink.
It tastes like a coconut/lemonade hybrid although it contains neither ingredient but was delicious nevertheless.

Next, it was time for starters, we opted to share two appetisers, the first:
Yaki Tori which is three chicken skewers with teriyaki dipping sauce served with seven spice pepper.
We also ordered Kara -Age, golden crispy chicken pieces marinated in soy, ginger and garlic.

I absolutely love Katsu curry at Wagamamma’s, that curry sauce that tastes just like the stuff you get from the chippy…
It would have been crazy not to opt for the ToriKatsu Curry so we both got a plate each.
I must warn you, the portion sized are humongous!
After finishing our lovely meal we were both full to bursting.
Green tea was in order!
I really recommend Etsu if you are feeling Japanese food, they also do a wide range of sushi and the Udon noodles look very tempting.
Make sure you book on weekends though as you might not be able to get through the door.
