I’m always late getting on any pop-culture bandwagon. Nine times out of ten, when the hype around a TV show, a book or a podcast finishes,  I suddenly get properly into it. This happened recently with Poldark (lol) which recently concluded on the BBC after 4 years and 5 seasons.

Naturally, I am now obsessed with it and in particular, Demelza Poldark played by the beautiful Eleanor Tomlinson (Remember her as Jas from Angus Thong’s And Perfect Snogging?!)Now, I’m a naturally pale gal and thanks to actresses like Eleanor and Felicity Jones, flying the flag for pale skinned types like myself, I feel the need to embrace my inner (outer) Casper and own my pale skin.

With that in mind, I’m on a quest to put my ultra bronzey makeup aside (because let’s face it, it ain’t me) and shake up my makeup bag to accommodate my inner English rose.

Now that we approach Winter here in the UK, I am turning towards a paler, more natural foundation shade. As I was all out of my normal foundation and only had a more bronzey one to spare, I decided that now was the perfect time to invest in a new foundation.

I have had my eye on the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation stick for years, but was always put off by the hefty price tag. I wanted it because it offers a medium, buildable coverage and is insanely portable. I have the shade Neutral Porcelain N 010. So far, I’m really enjoying this foundation as it stays put all day long and feels so hydrating on my skin, leaving it to look healthy and dewy during the colder months.

Some days I am all for a bright, bold lip, on other occasions, I much prefer a softer, tinted lip. That’s where the Burt’s Bee’s Tinted Lip Balms come in. Delivering long-lasting moisture, thanks to shea butter, comfortable hydration and a subtle hint of colour these are the perfect balms for everyday wear.

My favourite shades are Red Dahlia, a russet red and Hibiscus a pinky-coral shade – both are really beautiful and what’s better still, is that they are non-greasy (a problem I have with many balms) on the lips.

I’m having a real moment with cream blush. I was never previously a blush kind of gal, but I really love how beautiful a pop of pink looks on the cheeks. This is the Burt’s Bees All Aglow Lip + Cheek Stick in the shade ‘Peony Pool’ after I saw that pro-MUA Justine Jenkins, who frequently does Eleanor Tomlinson and Fearne Cotton’s makeup, uses this. I have to say, I think this is one of my favourite makeup products of all time.

Enriched with Jojoba, sunflower and coconut oil the non-sticky formula applies beautifully and blends seamlessly without making your foundation bobble. Offering a super, creamy and lightweight application, Peony Pink is the perfect peachy pink shade – The perfect English Rose shade. This is similar to the Haloscopes by Glossier, but better!
