Perhaps its the abundance of sparkles and sequins in the shops? Maybe it’s my recently formed woman crush on Sophie Ellis Bextor? Or it could be that Christmas party season is just around the corner? Whatever it is, I am loving a bit of sparkle at the moment.

Usually, I keep my day to day makeup quite minimal, opting for the rose/neutral tones shown in this post, however, November is my birthday month and of course, we are so near to Christmas now that it’d be criminal to not whip out the full-throttle glitter-tastic party makeup.

I was recently in Superdrug having a good old nosey at what’s new in and I came across a palette that I simply could not get out of my head. So I had to buy it. Naughty, I know. As it’s my 26th birthday this week I decided to use said palette to go all out for part 1 (lol) of my celebrations.

The Carmi ‘Make Magic Palette’ from Makeup Revolution is bold, brash and hypnotic. I was immediately drawn to the cool-toned foil shadows ala Sophie Ellis Bextor’s Murder On The Dancefloor video, however, I then realised how versatile this palette actually is all thanks to its mix of neutrals, rose tones and bold brights.

The palette is £10.00, however at the time of writing, it’s actually on offer for £7.00 which for 20 shadows is not bad at all. What’s more, Makeup Revolution are cruelty-free which is a big bonus for a brand that is so accessible.

Using the Make Magic palette I created a seriously shimmery, sparkly and sassy look. On the whole, the palette performed well and the staying power of the shadows that I used was good. Though, as with any glitter, you always end up with glitter particles all over your face however, I’m kind of into the Edward Cullen look, so that was fine.

The foil shadows apply best when pressed into your eyelid using the warmth of your finger. They really didn’t work for me using a brush as the product just clung to the bristles. I did, however, find the shimmer shades to be extra pigmented and required only the smallest swoop of the brush! My personal favourites from this palette include: ‘Self Made’, ‘Make Magic’ and ‘Flames’.

Glitter Party Makeup that won’t break the bank

And as if that wasn’t enough, I decided to add some extra sparkle to my eyes by using the Glitter Cream Palette by Barry M  which is also cruelty-free and vegan. I used a mix of the turquoise glitter and the silver glitter to add some more va va voom to my eyelids.

The glitters are good and staying power was also pretty decent. Sure, it’s not the best glitter palette around, but for the times when you don’t want to spend loads of money on shadows you probably won’t wear much, it’s more than okay. Another alternative that is really good if you just want one glitter colour in your collection is the Glam Crystal Gel Eyeliner from Collection. Definitely worth a look.
