What to wear when working from home – Comfy (But smart) Loungewear

My sofa is covered in blankets as we have recently welcomed a kitten into the family and he loves a good scratch!

I know, It’s a rare occasion when you can actually see my whole body on here. It’s also rather uncommon for me to be posting more style-related content, but alas it’s quite nice to be writing about something different! πŸ˜€

Like a lot of people, I’ve been working from home full time for around 7 weeks now. Fortunately, my line of work can continue remotely without any major disruption and whilst it has been a little strange to adjust to, I have to say, seeing my colleagues on video chat each day has been a source of great comfort during these widely uncertain times.

I recently shared my thoughts on lockdown and I recognise that there are so many different scenarios playing out for each and every one of us right now. I hope you are all doing okay? Don’t forget, my DM’s on Instagram and Twitter are always open for anyone who wants to chat.

Even though I’m at home, I still ‘see’ people every day.

In my job, we have daily ‘scrums’ whereby the whole team gets together on Zoom to discuss the days and weeks ahead, as well as where our respective projects are up to. On a typical weekday, I also have multiple video calls with clients and/or colleagues and so people do still ‘see‘ me on a daily basis.

With that in mind, Monday to Friday, I’ve been choosing comfortable yet smart clothing to wear to work. As I alluded to in this post, I feel much more productive and myself, when I look like me. Quite often that means I’m sporting my usual attire which comprises of a pair of skinny jeans and some kind of floral top.

Since I’ve been working from home, I have however discovered the benefits of wearing loungewear that bridges the gap between comfortable and pulled together. And so, this will be the first of two posts sharing two different styles of loungewear that have changed the way I’m dressing for work.

Smart loungewear to make you feel put together (and comfortable) when working from home

The Black Tulle Mesh Tie Waist Loungewear Set from Femme Luxe Finery

A lot of people who work from home on a permanent basis wax lyrical about being ‘business in the top ‘ and ‘casual on the bottom’ and I quite agree, if like me, you’re sat in a chair all day at a desk, you don’t want jeans digging into your tum.

That’s why I love this chic black loungewear set from Femme Luxe Finery*. The soft leggings are paired perfectly with a tie waisted, tulle top which definitely can be worn as part of a casual ensemble like this, or dressed up with jeans or a skirt for another occasion.

The beginning of the month always calls for a stack of my favourite magazines and a hot cup of tea

The top is my favourite thing about this set as it’s just so flattering and forgiving as it’s not cropped or bodycon. I have the size M/L which is a 12/14 I think and the top fits true to size. The leggings do however come up smaller and are a wee bit see-through so just bear that in mind if you’re wearing them out of the house.

Femme Luxe Finery offer a fantastic range of loungewear sets which are often reduced down to seriously affordable prices. I think this one I’m wearing here is now Β£22 down from Β£43! But the best thing is that I now feel suitably pulled together for my work video calls, as well as when the doorbell goes and its another thing Adam has ordered for the cat!

I’ll see you next time when I’ll be talking about another piece of affordable loungewear that I’ve been rocking whilst working from home.
